Dr. Helmut Rost and Dr. David Steiner represented LVA at the 7th ALVA Contaminants Conference at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, a key Austrian forum dedicated to chemical and biological contaminants in food and feed.
The conference brings together regulatory authorities such as AGES, leading food and feed laboratories, research institutions, and industry experts from across Austria to exchange knowledge on current analytical, regulatory, and scientific challenges in contaminant control.
In his presentation, Dr. David Steiner, Head of Reference Materials at LVA, highlighted advanced approaches to quality assurance in mycotoxin analysis, with a strong focus on next-generation reference materials produced in accordance with ISO 17034. These materials are essential for improving data quality, ensuring method validation, and achieving reliable interlaboratory comparability—particularly for complex matrices and heterogeneously distributed mycotoxins.
The conference provided an excellent platform for professional exchange and reinforced the importance of high-quality reference materials in strengthening food and feed safety across Austria.
